OM Interactive have been pioneers in the development of motion-activated projections for multi-sensory use since 2005. Their award winning interactive Mobii table provides adults in care homes, day centres and hospitals with meaningful person-centred activities that encourage movement, emotional well-being, communication and social involvement with powerful visuals, colour therapy, games, quizzes, music and reminiscence content. The many applications include; virtual aquariums, butterfly meadows, childhood sweetshops, transport memorabilia, pop icons, agility games and seaside holidays; something for everyone.
The system is fully mobile and height adjustable so it can be used wherever interactivity is required on floors, beds or tables of any height making it a truly inclusive intervention. The Mobii system is also unique in that customer’s own photos, artwork and music can easily be loaded to provide even greater personalisation. The company also provide discrete ceiling installation systems for table/floor use for those who would like it as a permanent feature in a room without needing to store equipment.
In 2018 OMI were proud to be awarded the most Pioneering Technology Award at the Dementia Care Show and the prestigious National Dementia Care Outstanding Product Award at The 9th Dementia Care Awards in November. The company are humbled by the feedback and stories they have received about the difference the system is making to the lives of people living with dementia, helping families to stay connected with their loved ones and motivating staff to see the person behind the dementia.
OMI are currently undertaking an independent in-depth Research project with a Cambridge University PhD researcher to formally assess the benefits of the system in care, the early indicators are hugely encouraging particularly in terms of social participation and staff/resident morale.
