Care Rights in Practice: using human rights to improve your service

16 Jul 2025
Keynote Stage
Human rights are central to the care and support you provide every day to people relying on care. Dignity, respect, autonomy and fairness may be a common language in your service but how do we make them a reality? This session will explore human rights in care settings, providing some tips and tools on how you can use the law to empower people using your service and improve your day-to-day practice. We’ll cover: What are human rights? Which rights are most relevant for care? How can I use rights to improve our service? The session will focus on your day-to-day practice and offer practical ideas and tools, without the legal jargon! We’ll share some real-life examples from our advice service of how human rights can have a big impact on the ground and change lives for the better.
